Interagency Asbestos and Silica Project Team

The Interagency Asbestos and Silica Project Team was established by the Northern Territory (NT) Government to progress a collaborative, whole-of-government approach to asbestos and silica management in the Northern Territory.

Its role includes:

• review and advise on the effectiveness of the Asbestos management policy and strategy for the Northern Territory Government PDF (876.2 KB)
• ensuring that asbestos management plans are regularly reviewed, updated and effectively implemented
• provide guidance and leadership to drive a whole-of-government approach to meet objectives identified against asbestos and silica related strategic planning and agency policy direction
• support and build the profile of asbestos and silica management practices across government
• provide a forum for senior representatives to brief agency partners on whole-of-agency and cross-government impacts and considerations arising in relation to Asbestos and Silica
• coordinate the NT's position in respect of the Australian Government's:
  • Asbestos National Strategic Plan Phase Three 2024–30 (ANSP)
  • Silica National Strategic Plan 2024–2030 (SNSP).
