Anzac Oval Precinct Master Plan
The Northern Territory Government has released a master plan for the ANZAC Oval Precinct, located in the heart of the Alice Springs CBD.
The precinct will feature a multi-purpose space designed for community use, including sport and recreation and multicultural activities, as well as a First Nations art gallery designed in a culturally appropriate way.
The Northern Territory Government is committed to building the new Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Gallery of Australia (ATSIAGA) and retaining the ANZAC Oval. The gallery will be built within the allocated budget of $149 million.
The 50’s Plus Centre and the Totem Theatre Complex situated in the north-eastern corner of the site will not be impacted. The master plan will provide additional carparking near the theatre.
The design and approvals timeline will take approximately 12 months, followed by an 18 to 24 month construction period. The project is expected to be completed in late 2027.
It is expected that there will be minimal impacts to Anzac Oval during construction, with the exception of construction and associated movements to the site.
If there are any impacts, these will be advised, planned and communicated with the local community.
