Berrimah Road speed limit change

The Department of Logistics and Infrastructure is changing the speed limit on Berrimah Road, between Tiger Brennan Drive and the entrance to Vopak.

The following speed limit change is now in effect, as of Saturday 15 April 2025.

Berrimah Road Existing speed limit New speed limit
Between Tiger Brennan Drive and Vopak 80km/h 70km/h

The department has an ongoing practice of improving safety across Territory roads for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians by implementing compatible and credible treatments, including speed reductions as per national best practice.

A recent review of the speed limits on Berrimah Road recommends a change from 80 km/h to 70 km/h, on the section of road from the Tiger Brennan Drive and Berrimah Road overpass to Vopak. The section of road after Vopak is currently 60 km/h and will remain mostly unchanged. However, a short length of 40 km/h will be implemented prior to the Darwin Port entrance gate.

When setting speed limits, the department considers several factors including safe driving speeds, traffic density and pedestrian activity. These changes will provide consistency, reducing the number of different speed limit zones along the route.

Please observe and adhere to all speed limits and drive with care.
