Gillen Oval multi-sport precinct

The Northern Territory Government is delivering better infrastructure for an active Territory with the development of the Gillen Oval Multi-Sport Precinct in Alice Springs.

Located adjacent to the site currently known as Centralian Middle School, the precinct will include a multipurpose large, irrigated greenspace adaptable for a wide range of youth sport (seasonal line marking, removable goals), change room and toilet facilities.

The development of the precinct will provide a versatile community facility, giving the school and local sporting codes enhanced playing and training grounds.

Having multiple use fields at Gillen Oval will give access to a wide range of groups, helping to:

  • bring clubs and age groups together
  • promote coaching and volunteering opportunities
  • increase participation
  • provide a flexible, convenient, and accessible place.

The precinct will also include additional amenity such as a canteen, spectator shade structures, increased car-parking and landscaping, helping to optimise the available space.

Following the detailed design process, construction is expected to take 12 months to complete.
