Installation of advanced warning signs - Stuart Highway and Amy Johnson Avenue

The Department of Logistics and Infrastructure is installing 2 new traffic signal warning signs at the Stuart Highway and Amy Johnson Avenue intersection.

The new signs will be placed in the Darwin city bound lanes on the Stuart Highway.

The existing signs in the Palmerston bound lanes will be relocated back from the intersection to meet minimum distance requirements.

The scope of works includes:

  • underground boring across the Stuart Highway
  • open trenching along the centre median
  • installation of conduit, cabling, and electrical works
  • modification of the traffic signal controller
  • relocation of a guide sign on the verge of the Stuart Highway heading towards Darwin city.

Works are expected to begin from mid-May and are due for completion by July 2025.

The installation and relocation of the traffic signal warning signs will improve road safety by giving drivers advanced notice of the potential need to stop when approaching the intersection.
