Nightcliff Jetty upgrades

Upgrade works at Nightcliff Jetty are continuing beyond the previously anticipated completion date following the identification of additional required structural repairs.

Works commenced on 11 May 2026 and were anticipated to be completed in late July 2026.

Further inspections have identified the need for additional structural repairs to ensure the jetty's long-term safety and integrity. As a result, Nightcliff Jetty will remain closed to the public while repairs continue and is expected to reopen in November 2026.

This is in addition to works which include:

• surface corrosion treatment of jetty columns
• high pressure water blasting of the walkway structure and jetty head in preparation for repainting
• removal of timber decking for high-pressure water blasting, installation of new timber decking where required and reinstallation of decking to close gaps between each board to 10 mm
• repairs and installation of handrails at jetty head
• installation of gate at top of the steps at jetty head
• installation of additional structural support where required.

Temporary public access arrangements will not be available during the Term 3 school holiday period, allowing works to continue uninterrupted and supporting the timely completion of the upgrades. Every effort is being made to reopen the jetty as soon as it is safe to do so.

The car park and surrounding foreshore areas will continue to remain open and traffic management measures may be required from time to time. Pedestrians and motorists are asked to exercise caution and follow all signage and directions from onsite personnel.
