Northern Suburbs Youth Hub

The Department of Logistics and Infrastructure (DLI) is building the Northern Suburbs Youth Hub (Youth Hub) at Leanyer Recreation Park.

The new facility will provide a safe, supervised, inclusive and engaging environment for the future needs of young people aged 10 to 17.

Once built, the facility will accommodate up to 60 young people during standard operations, with the capacity to host up to 100 young people during occasional events using both indoor and outdoor spaces.

The hub will support a range of youth-focused activities and will include:

  • a flexible air-conditioned activity space
  • breakout and meeting rooms
  • a learning kitchen for cooking
  • a media and games room
  • accessible amenities
  • dedicated staff and support areas
  • a half basketball court.

Works also include parking spaces for 2 coaster buses and 2 staff vehicles, as well as outdoor amenities to support ongoing program delivery.

The works location was carefully selected to accommodate the young people of Darwin, while the building has been designed to complement nearby activities and provide appropriate privacy and separation.

Work will take place Monday to Friday from 7am to 6pm and Saturday from 7am to 1pm. Works are expected to begin in September 2026 and be complete by July 2027.

This project is funded by the Australian Government.
