Papulu Pika Pikka-Ka - Barkly Student Boarding Facility

The Department of Logistics and Infrastructure (DLI) is constructing a new 40-bed student boarding facility at Tennant Creek High School.

The Papulu Pika Pikka-Ka boarding facility is part of the $100.5 million Barkly Regional Deal between the Australian Government and Northern Territory Government, and the Barkly Regional Council to improve the liveability of the region and stimulate economic growth.

The new boarding facility will be located within Tennant Creek High School grounds and will include:

  • an administration building for staff office space and support services
  • a communal building with commercial kitchen and dining space
  • landscaping works
  • all furniture, fixtures and equipment, to enable the facility to be fully operational.

The facility will be built on land within the Tennant Creek High School, located between the school oval and Stuart Street.

Construction has commenced and will take place, Monday to Saturday 7am to 5pm. The project is anticipated to take 14 months to complete.
