Roystonea Avenue duplication

The Department of Logistics and Infrastructure (DLI) is duplicating Roystonea Avenue in Palmerston, from Terry Drive to Lambrick Avenue, starting in April 2025.

Roystonea Avenue is a key access road connecting Palmerston CBD to the suburbs.

The duplication will:

  • improve road safety, traffic flow and drainage, particularly around the Inverway Circuit intersection
  • address the currently unsignalised Roystonea Avenue and Inverway Circuit intersection, and peak hour delays and congestion
  • cater for the future population growth expected in the area
  • address seasonal localised flooding experienced on the road.

As part of the works, pedestrian crossings will also be added at the Inverway Circuit intersection.

During the project

Access to Inverway Circuit and Buscall Avenue from Roystonea Avenue will be restricted at times during the works, and detours will be in place.

Traffic management will include use of speed reductions and temporary lane closures to ensure the safe and efficient flow of traffic.

There may be some delays to traffic flow from time-to-time during the construction. Road users are encouraged to seek alternative routes where possible.

Motorists are asked to take caution during these works and comply with all traffic management and signage in place.

Project details

Work is expected to completed by November 2025.

The project is jointly funded by the Australian and Northern Territory governments.
