Review of practices, policies and procedures of the DIPL Katherine office, as they relate to procurement

Published

The Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics (DIPL) worked closely with the Office of the ICAC Commissioner between 2021-23, on the Review of practices, policies and procedures of the DIPL Katherine office, as they relate to procurement.

While the Big Rivers region was central to the review process, the overall report and recommendations made by the Commissioner are broad and are for implementation across the department. In late August the Commissioner, Michael Riches, presented his findings to the departments Executive Management Board, and in October ICAC representatives also presented to the departments Executive Leadership Team.

As this review spanned several years DIPL progressively worked to improve practices, policies and procedures alongside the work of the ICAC. In preparation to address the initial observations and findings from ICAC, the departments Governance and Executive Services unit developed an Action Plan in consultation with the Procurement, Communications and Audit and Risk Investigation Units. The draft Action Plan is being finalised in response to the 18 recommendations from the Commissioner’s final report.

Through DIPL’s commitment to business improvement across the department a number of the identified actions have already been delivered in full or are considered completed ongoing. The Commissioner's report is available on this websites Reports, Strategies and Plans page. Regular updates on the Action Plan will be provided from the Governance and Executive Services Unit to the Executive Leadership Team.

If you have any questions relating to the review, please contact us.

Thank you to all employees involved with this review and their ongoing commitment to business improvement in this department.
