Update: Feral Animal Monitoring
The Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics has received several complaints from residents in the Leanyer area reporting issues with feral pigs, on vacant Crown Land parcels.
In November 2023, the department engaged a contractor to conduct feral animal monitoring and control activities in the area with around 50 pigs successfully removed.
The contractor will continue monitoring the area and conducting controlling activities over the coming weeks starting 15 December 2023.
The department is working in partnership with City of Darwin, the Department of Defence and the Department of Environment, Parks and Water Security to implement a long-term integrated program to address the issue over the next two years.
