MVR festive closure period
Motor Vehicle Registry (MVR) offices in the NT, including the contact centre and vehicle inspection facilities, will be closed over the festive holiday period.
Closures
MVR offices close from Thursday 25 December 2025, reopening Monday 5 January 2026.
There will be no MVR Darwin (Goyder Road) service on Saturday 3 January 2026.
MVR Jabiru will reopen on Thursday 5 February 2026.
MVR services
Services are available:
- online at nt.gov.au/mvr
- by phone on 1300 654 628
- by visiting a participating Australia Post outlet
- using MVR Business online.
Services include:
- business vehicle registration
- driver licence or car rego
- apply for a replacement NT driver licence cars
- check licence status
- transfer an interstate licence to NT
- update address and phone number
- nominate to get SMS reminders
- check rego expiry or inspection due date.
Additionally, at selected post offices, renew your licence with a new photo or submit your roadworthy inspection if required.
