Speed limit changes
The Department of Logistics and Infrastructure is changing the current speed limits on Channel Island Road and the Stuart Highway as per national best practice.
From Tuesday 1 July 2025, the following speed limits will be implemented:
Stuart Highway
- speed limit will increase to 100 km/h (previously 80 km/h), on the section fronting Emerald Springs roadhouse.
Channel Island Road
- new speed limit of 80 km/h, between Chung Wah Terrace and Wickham Point Road
- new speed limit of 90 km/h, between Wickham Point Road and Channel Island Bridge.
Road users are urged to comply with all speed limits and drive like our lives are worth living.
