Motor Vehicle Registry Darwin expands face‑to‑face appointment services

Published

Motor Vehicle Registry (MVR) Darwin is expanding its face-to-face appointment service, by increasing the number of available appointments and introducing new appointment types to improve customer convenience and reduce wait times for in‑person transactions.

Customers can now pre‑book appointments online for:

  • DriveSafe NT – first‑time applicants
  • evidence of age card – first‑time applicants
  • commercial passenger vehicle licence (CPV) applications and renewals
  • CPV (H endorsement) applications and renewals
  • number plate surrender and exchange.

This enables customers to bypass the main queue and go directly to their appointment at a dedicated appointment counter.

Customers can continue to pre-book face-to-face appointments for existing services, including:

  • interstate driver licence transfer
  • overseas driver licence transfer
  • interstate vehicle registration transfer
  • learner driver licence (first-time applicants only).

Appointment process

  • Appointments are available on weekdays from 9am to 3pm and can be booked up to 4 weeks in advance.
  • Once a booking is made, customers receive an email and SMS confirmation, plus a reminder the day before the appointment.
  • Customers must bring all required documentation, or the appointment will be cancelled. (Terms and conditions apply.)
  • On the day of the appointment, follow the signage to the dedicated appointment counter.

To book an appointment, visit the Territory Services website.

Other MVR services

Many other MVR services, such as renewals and standard registration transfers, can still be completed at Australia Post or online through MVR Quickpay.
