Newland Park Road Safety Centre kicks off with a Family Bike Party!
On Friday 22 May 2026, the Road Safety team will be holding a Family Bike Party at the Newland Park Road Safety Centre in Alice Springs, from 3pm to 6pm.
The event is being held during National Road Safety Week, which runs from 17 to 24 May 2026.
Children and families are encouraged to bring their own bike or scooter and of course, their helmet, to practise cycling safely in an off-road, supervised environment.
If you don’t have a bike, scooter or helmet, don’t stress! The Road Safety team have a range of bikes and helmets to suit children of all ages.
If you don’t feel like riding, there will be plenty of other fun activities to ensure you have an amazing afternoon:
- jumping castle
- face painting
- art displays
- free sausage sizzle.
There will also be activities and displays for attendees to show their support for National Road Safety Week. Hector the Road Safety Cat will be out and about on the day and getting amongst the fun, so come and get a selfie with Hector!
The Road Safety team will be on site and available to provide advice about bike and road safety education and information about the services they provide to schools and the wider community. Parents can also use the opportunity to receive practical advice on road safety topics of interest.
Other key road safety stakeholders, such as NT Fire and Rescue Service and NT Police, will also be present and available to speak with community members about their services or answer any questions.
