Roadside Technologies

The department collects and analyses a wide range of information to regulate, manage, and improve road transport systems. This data helps ensure the safe and efficient movement of vehicles and pedestrians and informs strategic planning for transportation infrastructure. To support these goals, we employ an array of advanced roadside technologies, including traffic sensors, cameras, automated vehicle identification systems, and real-time data collection tools, all designed to monitor traffic flow, detect congestion, and track road usage patterns.

These technologies also play a key role in enhancing traffic safety and optimizing route planning for both short-term and long-term transport strategies. In addition to monitoring traffic, the data collected supports transport planning by identifying trends in vehicle movement, enabling more effective management of road networks, and reducing congestion.

We are committed to maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of individuals' information. All transport data and statistics are carefully managed to ensure that personal identities are de-identified, with strict privacy protocols in place to protect sensitive information. The data may also be utilised for quality assurance purposes, helping to ensure the accuracy of traffic management systems, and for generating statistical insights that inform public policy and transportation planning.
